Standalone SharePoint Online and OneDrive for Business Plans to Be Retired in China

According to a 21Vianet Blue Cloud Ops Comm dated 27 May 2026, standalone SharePoint Online and OneDrive for Business plans are being retired. Customers should begin planning their transition to supported Microsoft 365 plans or alternative storage options.

Short Answer

Standalone SharePoint Online Plan 1 / Plan 2 and OneDrive for Business Plan 1 / Plan 2 are being retired in stages. New customers or tenants will no longer be added after 1 June 2026, renewals will stop after January 2027, and all standalone plans will be fully retired after December 2029.

The retirement applies to the following standalone SharePoint Online and OneDrive for Business plans.

SharePoint Online

  • SharePoint Online Plan 1
  • SharePoint Online Plan 2

OneDrive for Business

  • OneDrive for Business Plan 1
  • OneDrive for Business Plan 2

Key Timeline

The retirement will take place in three main stages: End of Sale, End of Life, and End of Service.

End of Sale

1 June 2026

No new customers or tenants will be added after this date. Existing customers can still renew.

End of Life

January 2027

No renewals will be available after this date. Existing contracts will continue until expiration.

End of Service

December 2029

All standalone plans will be fully retired. Customers must transition to Microsoft 365 suites, capacity packs, or pay-as-you-go storage options.

Note: This retirement does not change existing contracts. Existing customers will continue to be supported through the end of their current agreement.
